How to pay for college

College costs can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to help you through the process to make smart choices for your student and family.

1

Apply for the FAFSA

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year to see which federal loans, grants and work study you qualify for.
2

Explore scholarships

Don't forget to apply for scholarships - it's free money. Firemen's Federal offers one every year!
3

Consider private student loans

If federal aid and scholarships aren't enough, our private student loans can help fill the gap.

Refinancing student loans

If you’re juggling a bunch of student loans after college, refinancing could help you save time and money. Refinancing lets you roll multiple loans into one new loan, often with a lower interest rate or different term.
