Direct Deposit Guide

Welcome to the New Orleans Firemen's Federal Credit Union’s Direct Deposit Guide

NOFFCU is here to help you make your transition go as smoothly as possible. Use this guide to set up direct deposit and transfer your checking account to NOFFCU. After opening your new checking account, simply review the following steps to help you set up your new direct deposit, automatic payments and close your old accounts.

STEP 1: CHANGE OVER YOUR DIRECT DEPOSIT

Send a Direct Deposit Change Form to anyone who makes automatic deposits to your account, including:
(Please note: This is a only a generic form. Please check with your employer or institution to be sure that this form is acceptable to change your Direct Deposit information)

Your employer’s human resources department
Company handling your retirement or pension payments
Social Security Administration

STEP 2: CHANGE OVER YOUR AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS

Send an Automatic Payment Change Form to the companies and financial institutions that handle your automatic payment (including anyone who processes automatic charges to your old debit cards.) Use this checklist to keep track of the people you may need to contact:

Mortgage Company
Homeowner’s insurance
Auto insurance
Life insurance
Utility Companies
Telephone company
Cable company

STEP 3: CLOSE YOUR OLD ACCOUNTS

Be sure to leave your old accounts active long enough to allow outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear. Leave enough money on deposit to cover these transactions. This process may take a few weeks. After your account is closed make sure to destroy your old checks and ATM/debit cards.
